Two people are fighting for their lives and a third has also been injured following a late-night stabbing incident in Glendene, West Auckland.
Emergency services were called to Kirby Street at about 11.40pm on Sunday after reports of a disorder.
Police said three people were found with injuries believed to be consistent with knife wounds.
Hato Hone St John sent three ambulances and two critical care units to the scene.
Two patients were taken to hospital in a critical condition, while a third was transported with moderate injuries.
Acting Detective Inspector Megan Goldie said police were not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
An increased police presence is expected in the area while enquiries continue.
The New Zealand Herald has separately reported that one of those injured was a baby, with neighbours helping at the scene before emergency crews arrived. That detail has not yet been confirmed by police.
Police have not released further information about what led to the incident or the relationship between those involved.
