Prime Minister Christopher Luxon swapped the campaign stage for the barbecue at Parkside Village on Saturday, serving sausages and chatting with residents during National’s latest Auckland campaign stop.
Wearing a blue National jacket and an apron carrying the party’s “No New Taxes” slogan, Luxon spent time behind the food table before speaking with residents gathered at the community event.
The visit had a relaxed, informal feel, with Luxon shaking hands, posing for photographs and holding conversations with people as food was served.
His stop at Parkside Village came as National’s newly launched campaign bus continued its first Auckland run, following earlier appearances in Howick and Sylvia Park.
Nicola Willis and Mark Mitchell were also at the event, while Luxon later addressed residents on National’s election priorities, including its no-new-taxes pledge, economic management and law and order.
National formally launched its 2026 campaign last weekend, with Luxon making the tax pledge one of the party’s central election messages.
But at Parkside Village, the campaign briefly took on a more local flavour, with the Prime Minister stepping behind the barbecue and serving residents before continuing his campaign schedule.
